I’m an actor/writer living in Los Angeles, California. I sang in various rock bands in my teen years and then did a lot of theater work in my early twenties. I have a weak spot for story telling, because at its purest and most powerful it has always possessed the ability to enchant me or at least draw me in and engage me wholly. Film is my favorite story telling medium – there’s something about watching a great movie in a theater that can make me feel like everything is possible. That there are no boundaries to our ideas and dreams and to that deep, deep power we all share as human beings. I like that feeling.
As an actor and writer I wish to be a part of the kinds of stories that inspired me as a little kid, and still do so today. To hopefully tap into a potential to excite or move my fellow contemporaries, make them laugh and maybe feel, and – if it’s not too much to ask – to perhaps get a shot at touching something inside the one or other which is beyond words and human intellect… That would be something.
Enjoy looking around!

Hey guys and gals,
I will be returning on NBC’s GRIMM for season 4 as Resistance leader Hans Tavitian. I’m very excited to be going back to Portland next week to shoot for episode 8, which should be airing early 2015. And it looks like there will be more episodes following… so stay tuned!
Much love, Bernhard

I’m really happy to announce that I’ll part of the upcoming Amazon TV pilot ‘The Man in the High Castle’. The show is based on the book with the same title by author Philip K. Dick. The plot is incredibly intriguing: it’s the early 60s. In an alternate history the Nazis have won the war and are now occupying the US together with Japan. Swastika billboards on Times Square and all…
I play Ambassador Hugo Reiss, who’s stationed in Japanese occupied San Francisco, and I’m currently shooting for the pilot in Seattle, WA. The fantastic cast includes Rufus Sewell, Alexa Davalos, Luke Kleintank, Geoffrey Blake, Rupert Evans, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, DJ Qualls and many more…
Check in for updates soon. Cheers, everyone!

I just wrapped on shooting an exciting role for Brad Pitt’s upcoming movie ‘FURY’, which marks my first big studio movie engagement. I play ‘Sturmbannführer Müller’, a high-ranking Nazi officer hellbent on taking down the Sherman tank lead by Brad Pitt’s character ‘Wardaddy’. David Ayer wrote and directed. You might have seen some of his other films including ‘Training Day’ and ‘End of Watch’. It was truly a privilege to work with the man.
‘FURY’ will be released in the US on November 14th this year, and on January 1st, 2015 in Germany and Austria. Watch the trailer below – it will be one hell of an experience!
Cheers and much love!

‘Freedom’ (formerly ‘Carry Me Home’) will be released in theaters all over Australia on August 21st this year. There’s a new trailer out (see below) and also a new possible movie poster. I’m excited to be featured, as I am 😉

I wanted to share the exciting news about my forthcoming guest star appearance on NBCs supernatural drama ‘GRIMM’. I’ve already spent half a week shooting in Portland, and will be going back to film the rest of my role as ‘HANS TAVITIAN’ at the end of October. I couldn’t be more excited to be on this great and successful show! Everyone has been a dream to work with so far.
Much love, Bernhard

Thanks to all of you who tuned in yesterday night to see me on SUPERNATURAL as Nazi villain ‘Commandant Eckhart’. I hope everyone enjoyed the episode as much as I did. Aside from Jared and Jensen and everyone else involved who made the show a blast to watch, I thought my guest star colleagues Adam Rose and John DeSantis did an incredible job! Thanks for the fun, guys – B

Our short film ‘ENTER THE FREEMAN’ already has more than 530,000 views on youtube (watch it further below, if you haven’t seen it yet), and now ‘THE FREEMAN CHRONICLES’ are about to go on Indiegogo to crowd fund more episodes and expand on our pilot. Director Ian James Duncan, writer Thomas C. Dunn and myself have come up with what we think is an exciting continuation of our hero Gordon Freeman’s story, and we can’t wait to get back on set and film more for all the Half-Life fans out there.
Here’s a teaser we shot a few weeks ago, which will also be up on Indiegogo as a sneak peak of what we have planned for the new episodes. I added a new still shot of myself as Gordon:

Short update on my feature film ‘Something Whispered’: the film is now up on imdb, and you can check it out here:
I will be going back to Connecticut for a few days sometime in February for pick up shots, and probably some musical recording in the studio. Can’t wait to see everyone again and clothe myself in John Newton’s 18th-century garments once more…
You can check out this episode on Feb. 6th, at 9/8c on the CW network. Thanks in advance for watching!

‘ENTER THE FREEMAN’, a short film based on the cult video game ‘Half-Life’, has been released on the internet 10 days ago and already reached more than 300,000 views, 13,000 ‘likes’ and over 3,000 comments on youtube. The fans of Half-Life around the world expressed an incredible enthusiasm for the film, and most of their feedback was nothing short of ecstatic…
Directed by Ian James Duncan, and starring myself as the iconic character GORDON FREEMAN (yes, that’s me up there), this short film will likely lead to an entire webseries based on the same content. Ian and I (we produced the short together) are speaking to potential financiers as I’m writing this.
Watch ‘ENTER THE FREEMAN’ below!
And some more good news:
I’m currently shooting a feature film in Connecticut, called ‘Something Whispered’. The story revolves around the fight against slavery in the 18th and 19th century. I’m very happy to have been entrusted with the part of JOHN NEWTON, an infamous slave trader who changes his ways after events that could only be described as ‘divine intervention’, becomes a priest and poet, and writes the now world-famous hymn ‘Amazing Grace’.
The other lead role – played by Academy-Award-Winner Cuba Gooding Jr. – is that of SAMUEL, who flees with his family from a plantation to reach freedom, under constant threat of being caught and executed.
